What is a command prompt?
CMD was released in December 1987. It is a default command interpreter for the OS, Microsoft windows, Arca OS. It is also referred to as cmd or command prompt.

HOW TO OPEN COMMAND PROMPT?

  1. Click on the start button
  2. Search command prompt or just type the short form cmd.
  3. The second way to open cmd is to press win + R, this will also open the search bar
  4. Just type cmd and the software will be in front of you.

Some of the basic commands of command prompt

  1. Know you networking information (ipconfig)

Ipconfig will let you know your IP address along with the local network you are using.

  1. Hardware information

To know about your PC you can run the command system info. This will help you to know your motherboard, Ram & processor.

  1. Sending test packets

Running the ping command sends packets to the target system.

Use the PING command to test whether your computer can access other computers, websites, or any of the servers you wish to go to.

HOW DO WE OPEN THIS ADVANCED STARTUP OPTION?
ITS VERY SIMPLE
WHEN YOU TURN ON YOUR PC OR LAPTOP THE FIRST THING YOU SEE IS THE WINDOWS LOGO.
Just before that windows sign, there will be a black screen. At that time you have to continuously press the F8 key. And hola you will be redirected to the advanced startup option.
What does ADVANCED STARTUP OPTION contain?
1. Repair your computer
2. Safe mode
3. Advanced boot option
4. Safe mode with networking
5. Safe mode with command prompt
6. Enable boot login
7. Enable low-resolution video ( 640 × 480 )
8. Late me the good configuration
9. Directory service restore mode
10.Debugging mode
11. Disable driver signature enforcement
12.Start windows normally

The SHUTDOWN command helps you to shut down your computer. But you can even change the settings for the shutdown.

Typing shutdown /i in cmd will initiate the shutdown process, but it will also give you a pop-up showing whether you have to restart or shut down the computer fully. If you don’t want this pop-up then just type shutdown /s

If you want to check all the commands just type shutdown. It will give you options like hibernating, logoff, sleep, etc.

  1. Schedule task (SCHTASKS)

Schedule task basically helps you to schedule a program at a particular time you want to. The commands it takes are minutes, hours, days, and even months. The software will run on its own at the scheduled time.

You also have to specify the frequency by / MO command

If you typed the command correctly, you’ll see the response, SUCCESS: The scheduled task “Example” has successfully been created.

6. Ipconfig

This command relays the IP address that your computer is currently using. However, if you’re behind a router (like most computers today), you’ll instead receive the local network address of the router.

OTHER WINDOWS CMD COMMAND

  1. Color
    This helps to change the background color of your cmd prompt window.
  2. Comp
    The name only says it. It compares 2 files and tells the difference between them.
  3. Title
    Change the title of the command prompt window.
  4. Robocopy
    It helps to copy the file in a massive way and that’s pretty cool
  5. Regedit
    It helps to edit the keys in the windows. Just use it with some caution.

6. Call (calls a batch file from another one).

7. cd (Change Directory)
