How to Find Duplicate Songs in iTunes on Mac and Windows PC
Step #1. Launch iTunes on your computer and head over to your music library.
Step #2. Click on Songs from the sidebar.
Step #3. Now, click on “File” menu and select “Library.” → from the “Library” sub-menu, select “Show Duplicate Items.”
Step #2. iTunes will now show a list of all the duplicate songs. Now, you can verify those songs.
Step #3. In the end, click on “Done” button at the Display Duplicate screen to return to the regular track listing of your iTunes library.
- iTunes shows matches depending on the song name and artist.
- In case you have multiple versions of the same song, hold the Alt or Option key (Mac) or the Shift key (Windows) and choose File → Library → Show Exact Duplicate Items. It will display the list of only the duplicate songs, which have the same name, artist, and album.
- You can check the information in other columns, such as Time, Release Date, or Genre to figure out which item to retain and which one to delete.
How to Delete Duplicate Songs in iTunes on Mac and Windows PC
Step #1. Launch iTunes on your computer
Step #2. Now, click on File menu and select Library → Show Duplicate Songs.
Step #3. Next, select the duplicate song(s) you want to delete.
Step #4. In the menu bar at the top of the computer screen, click Song and select Delete from Library.
Step #5. Click on Delete in Popup.
Step #6. Once you have deleted the unwanted tracks, click on Done at the top right corner.
